Rifle Paper Co.

I have a new love for stationary. I love beautiful notebooks, floral sticky notes and colorful page markers. They just get me so excited!

Ever since I have found Rifle Paper Co., I cannot stop drooling.

How beautiful would this be on my desk? I would never write a note on it.... it's too pretty.

How beautiful is this journal?
Botanical Journal in Rose
Look at these beautiful cards.  I'm thinking about purchasing these as art. White matte, either thin gold or white frames, hung in a cluster of four ?!?!? They are screaming my name.

Topiary Love

I am a huge topiary fan. I absolutely love them, especially Boxwood.

Well I have been on the hunt for the perfect topiarys for the fireplace and was having SUCH a hard time. I fell in love with the ones that were sold at Restoration Hardware, but could not bring myself to spend $40 for one 16" Topiary  (See that tiny little guy? Ya, he's $40):

Soooo, I have been looking and looking. Looked at Home Goods, Pier One, a few boutiques in our area, and etc. I cannot stand when they look artificial.

Then I had a break through! I went to good ol' Meijer with my mom one weekend and just happened to walk by the flower section. You will NOT believe what I found.

The EXACT same topiary as Resto. It is preserved Boxwood in the same exact pot. I honestly believe they are using the same vendor to import these. The best part, $25 dollars!!!! They have a pretty good selection as well, different sizes and shapes. They are called the "Preserved Greens Collection" and can be found in the artificial floral section.

Happy Shopping!

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.... Right?

If you craft and are creative then I bet you know exactly how I feel. I don't like throwing things away that I KNOW I can turn into something awesome (even if my husband might not see it). It may take me a while to start the project, but when it is finished, it will be fabulous!!!

For example, I have had this chair since high school:

Getting pretty ugly : / I got it at Target to use as a vanity stool (see all the Bare Escentuals I spilled)

Well, I could not STAND to get rid of it, sooooo a staple gun, some free fabric I got at my old job and.........
TADA, isn't it so cute :)

A few other gems that others were just going to get rid of and I could not STAND seeing them go....got all these absolutely free!

How gorgeous is this vintage Steamer Trunk? With all it's beautiful imperfections, I absolutely love it! It is on wheels, and opens to a set of drawers, and a rack to hang clothing.  Have not yet decided how to accessories it.

How about this beauty? They were just throwing it away!!!!! It is from early 1900's, I did some deep googling and found out Ernest Hemmingway used the same typewriter to write his books! How awesome is that!

How about this vintage lace? (Sorry for the horrible photo skills). There was so much vintage lace that was bieng thrown away, you can't let that go! I've found a good home for a small portion- as curtain tie backs!
Ah I LOVE it......can't stop staring.

Anyway- don't throw away semi-awesome things....... call me I'll come get it :)

I'm baaaaaccccck :)

Please excuse my very long vacation from blogging....... it just got a little crazy with the holidays, a new job, house hunting, a few new engagements and so many other fantastic things that have happened the past few months! But I am back and so excited to be here :) I have missed it so.

You know what else I miss? Spring.......Summer.......the sun........the pool. Which is why I am so excited about the 2011 Resort trends for this crazy season we call Resort (AKA it's almost spring.......and if you wait until it's warm enough for you to actually wear these clothes to buy them, they will be on sale, YAY)

One of my favorites, the scalloped edge:

Loving the lacey-ness on this too!

Loving the gingham trend too, how cute is this dress??!

Also, who doesn't love a great pastel?

Then the always classy nautical:

And my all time favorite, floral <3

The 2011 Resort trends really incorporate my all time favorite elements of fashion. I am so excited about them- they should be out in your favorite stores now! Be sure to let me know if you find anything absolutely wonderful!

Also, thanks to ELLE for the beautiful images <3

Finger Knitting and Fireplace

Have you heard of finger knitting? It's such a great craft for the holidays, and is so easy to do! Over the course of 1.5 hours yesterday I made 4 different strands. They are great to use as garland on your tree, decorate windows, fireplaces, doll scarves, or whatever else you can think of! I used my strands on my fireplace and when we get our tree this Saturday I will also use them as garland.

Here's a little video showing you how easy it is!

I also shredded a few white grocery bags to make fake snow for the vases housing the pine cones, so easy and great way to recycle those grocery bags.

If your interested in step by step instructions of how to finger knit check out this video here .

This is the last post about the fireplace PROMISE.

Not quite there yet

Well......... upon opening the boxes which house our Christmas decorations, I realized we do not have as many Christmas decorations as I thought. We have no garland, only 3 strings of lights, no stocking hangers, etc.

That being said, here is the fireplace about 30% complete. I think a shopping trip is in store tomorrow afternoon........so enjoy the sneak preview (PS. ignore the green carpet.... were currently renting!)

Aren't those pine cones AMAZING! Picked them up while I was in NC earlier this year. I am making a garland with them after I get some crafting supplies tomorrow.

This is basket I got at Target, how perfect is it for logs?!? So excited about it.

Well it's still bare, but we are working on it. Hopefully tomorrow I will have an update for you!
