Finger Knitting and Fireplace

Have you heard of finger knitting? It's such a great craft for the holidays, and is so easy to do! Over the course of 1.5 hours yesterday I made 4 different strands. They are great to use as garland on your tree, decorate windows, fireplaces, doll scarves, or whatever else you can think of! I used my strands on my fireplace and when we get our tree this Saturday I will also use them as garland.

Here's a little video showing you how easy it is!

I also shredded a few white grocery bags to make fake snow for the vases housing the pine cones, so easy and great way to recycle those grocery bags.

If your interested in step by step instructions of how to finger knit check out this video here .

This is the last post about the fireplace PROMISE.

Not quite there yet

Well......... upon opening the boxes which house our Christmas decorations, I realized we do not have as many Christmas decorations as I thought. We have no garland, only 3 strings of lights, no stocking hangers, etc.

That being said, here is the fireplace about 30% complete. I think a shopping trip is in store tomorrow afternoon........so enjoy the sneak preview (PS. ignore the green carpet.... were currently renting!)

Aren't those pine cones AMAZING! Picked them up while I was in NC earlier this year. I am making a garland with them after I get some crafting supplies tomorrow.

This is basket I got at Target, how perfect is it for logs?!? So excited about it.

Well it's still bare, but we are working on it. Hopefully tomorrow I will have an update for you!

Helloooo Monday!

Well......first of all, I did NOT follow through with my promise of blogging last week because it was an insane week. We were shopping almost every night for things we needed to pull off our early Thanksgiving dinner (which we celebrated Saturday night, and it was fabulous). This week, however, should be different. I have all week off and an planning on blogging your ears out.....maybe even two posts in one day!

So since I want to start this week out fabulous......I am going to go ahead and start putting up my Christmas decor! This weekend my mom and I went to Target to shop around and I found these beautiful stockings for $10!

I got them personalized with our names in green, absolutely beautiful. Hopefully I will finish decking out the fireplace today and can post a picture tonight.

I also got a round storage basket, which we we be using to hold our logs right next to the fireplace over the winter. It looks something like this.......I could not find an exact picture.

These two additions are really going to look great with the rest of our Christmas decor. I don't use much red when decorating for Christmas, I tend to stick with greens, golds, silvers, creams. I love using pine cones in any way I can....... they are such a great vase filler, or ornament and can be found right outside.

Speaking of ornaments, I am in love with these little guys from Pottery Barn:

For the past few years Pottery Barn has been doing different variations of their woodland creatures, and every year when they go on sale I scoop them up! I am so excited that my little collection of these is growing because they are such a great addition to any tree.

Well off to unload the Christmas decor! Check back tonight for photo's of the fireplace!

Things I love

This week has been a super busy week at work, having to work late most nights makes me so tired that I don't get to blog. However, I can't keep doing that........ I am going to blog this week even if I'm tired because it brings me back to the things that I love.

I have been helping a friend plan her wedding, which I am very excited about. She is getting married at a beautiful vineyard with her reception being held in a barn which is decked out in lights. I absolutely love weddings, they are just filled with so much love and joy.

So while going through my idea files, and inspiration folders I have really been drawn to using bourbon/wine barrels.

How beautiful is this? Such a simple statement.

I don't think it gets any better than this bar, absolutely amazing.

I could see using the lacey arch and this bourbon bar in one wedding, a great mix of feminine and masculine.

Well  I'm going to go catch up on all my favorite blogs and search for more ideas, hope you all enjoy your the rest of your Saturday!

Saturday Morning

Good morning! Saturday mornings are my favorite time of the week, they are just so relaxing and you still have an entire weekend. Today, since I will be cleaning my own bathroom, I wanted to share a few beautiful bathrooms, or wash rooms, or powder rooms...whatever you call yours :)

from House Beautiful
How beautiful is this mirrored bathrooms. I love how they use three mirrors above the vanity, and the use of mixed metals.

*Side Note: If you haven't noticed....... I love white, it's so fresh and crisp*

House Beautiful
Who would not want an arched doorway in their bathroom, it is GORGEOUS! Love the clean lines, the calm stripes on the wall and of course the mini-chandelier.

House Beautiful

I love this for a hall half bath.  I'm usually not a big fan of wall-paper (mainly because it took me husband and I 2 full days to strip wall-paper from a TINY bathroom) but this is wonderful. Of course, it also has a chandelier, lovely :)

I hope the rest of your day is amazing !

PS. I REALLY love this little girl cardigan from Crewcuts..... I want it.

All this bedroom needs is a vase filled with hydrangeas, how peaceful and relaxing.
How cute would this be? I love the bows that hold the panels back. Her friends would be so jealous.....actually I'm kind of jealous :)

Anyway,If you have not them checked them out yet- put it on your 'To Do' list asap!

The most important dinner for the year....

So were planning Thanksgiving around here. Working on the menu, getting tips on cooking (my first time making a turkey) and most IMPORTANTLY working on the table decor. This will be my first time using our china.

It has a beautiful lace border.

I was thinking about using a runner instead of a table cloth, maybe something like this?

- Beautiful photo courtesy of Style Me Pretty

Or this, with a monogram on each end:

How about this beautiful mix of burlap and cotton?

Very romantic, but feels like your Grandma's house at the same time. I'm really loving the burlap with the softer fabrics. Still working on the rest of the table!

How pretty.....

Creature Comforts has come out with an amazing online magazine called Gifted. Has great holiday gift giving ideas, cute DIY projects, and so much more!

How cute is this wrap job with the Pom Pom?

Reminds me of the gifts I gave to my bridesmaids, the small boxes were wrapped at Anthropologie.

Anthropologie always has the best wrapping, how sweet is this from 2008?

Makes me want to go wrap Christmas gifts now.....maybe listen to a little Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer by Jack Johnson <3
